Rep. Nita Lowey Stops at Nyack Streetfair

Congresswoman now represents Rockland

Rep. Nita Lowey stopped by Sunday afternoon, meeting with village officials and checking out a portion of her new district.

Congressional districts last month when federal judges approved new borders drawn up by a federal Magistrate Judge Roanne Mann due to the lack of a redistricting agreement among state legislators.

The transformation grants Rockland County to Democrat Nita Lowey; the district, numbered as the 18th, will become known as the 17th.

"I am eager to introduce myself to community leaders and residents throughout the district, share my record of accomplishment for our community, and earn your vote," Lowey said shortly after the change was finalized.

Loewy has also announced she will be running for re-election.
