Piermont Pursues FEMA Flood Prevention Funds

The Village of Piermont is requesting storm damage information from property owners to aid in its application for grant money from FEMA for flood prevention measures.

The Village of Piermont is applying for grant money from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) that would pay for measures to prevent flood damage during future disasters.

Part of the process is demonstrating that losses from previous disasters have been more costly than the proposed infrastructure improvements would be. The Village sent out forms this week asking property owners to list expenses incurred due to storm damage. This can include rain, flooding and hurricanes, but does not have to be limited to Hurricane Sandy.

The village will hold a workshop Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in village hall at 478 Piermont Ave. to answer questions and to help property owners fill out the necessary forms..They are asking that the forms be submitted by Friday, Oct. 4. The forms can be emailed to the village clerk at Clerk@Piermont-ny.org.

For more information, contact the village clerk at (845) 359-1258.
