Piermont Honors Late Official, Looks at Outdoor Dining

Last week's board of trustees meeting in Piermont tackled issues like and a possible . Here's a look at the smaller proceedings and discussions:

  • The village held a moment of silence for Rich Dunbar, a former Piermont trustee who passed away in late May. Dunbar served as a trustee in the '80s, was a marine in the Vietnam War and an officer with the Orangetown Police Department. "He always had heart," said Chris Sanders, Piermont's mayor.
  •   is seeking to add a handful of outdoor dining tables on Piermont Avenue.
  • Piermont's Department of Public Works will look into the vines creeping up the firehouse's whistle tower (located across from Empire Hose). Trustee Audie Moran expressed concern that the vegetation may inhibit the siren.
