[Update] Ruggiero Approved as Putnam County's New Planning Commissioner

The Putnam County Board of Legislators is scheduled to vote tonight on a resolution appointing Peekskill Planning Director Anthony Ruggiero as their commissioner for planning.

UPDATE, Dec. 5, 10:15 a.m.:

The Putnam County Board of Legislators approved Anthony Ruggiero's hiring as the new county planning commissioner during Tuesday night's meeting.

-------------------

The Putnam County Legislature is set to vote on an amendment tonight approving the appointment of Anthony Ruggiero, Peekskill’s current director of planning, to the position of Putnam’s commissioner of planning, development and public transportation.

Ruggiero would be paid a yearly  salary of $110,000 in the new position. Putnam County Executive MaryEllen Odell appointed Ruggiero to the position on Nov. 21. He is expected to start the new position immediately after his appointment by Putnam County lawmakers.

Ruggiero declined to comment on his new position Monday.

Prior to serving as Peekskill’s director of planning, Ruggiero served as a junior planner with the Town of Poughkeepsie from 1997 to 1999 and Beekman’s town planner in 1999 before coming to Peekskill as an assistant city planner in 2000.

Ruggiero served as assistant city planner until he was promoted to the position of city planner in 2006. He was eventually named the city’s director of planning in 2009.

Best of luck to you Anthony and thank you for the help you provided to me and the homeowners in The Woods III in Westchester. This is a real Peekskill loss.

Peekskill's loss is Putnam's gain. Best of luck, Anthony. My best wish for you is that the politicos there are more rational than people destroying Peekskill.

Peekskill is locked into a cycle of demise. Every week is another rung down in transit from the pan into the fire
