Orangetown Hosting Green Infrastructure Workshop

The Town of Orangetown will host a workshop regarding long-term financing options for green infrastructure and stormwater facilities from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Orangetown Town Hall Tuesday.

Orangetown Supervisor Andy Stewart will provide the introduction to the program, which is sponsored by the Hudson Valley REgional Council with funding from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the Town of Orangetown, the Rockland Municipal Planning Federation, Rockland County Soil and Water Conservation District and Rockland County Division of Environmental Resources.

"As Rockland County looks for creative solutions to meeting water demand and reducing water pollution, green infrastructure has a vital role to play and Orangetown is a proud sponsor of this event," Stewart wrote in an email about the workshop.

There will be two primary speakers:

  • Robert Feller, Esq., an envrionmental law attorney at Bond, Schoeneck & King. Feller drafted the NYS manual for local financing of stormwater programs.
  • John Behan, AICP, a Principal with Behan Planning and Design.
In addition to their primary presentation, the workshop will focus on local case studies including green infrastructure implementation in the Village of Nyack, the porous parking lot at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory and the formation of a stormwater district in the Town of Greenburgh in Westchester County.
