Orangetown Approves Nyack Pump Station Work

The Orangetown Council voted last week to approve $29,850 public works contract with Houser Bros, Inc. for replacement of a defective valve at the Nyack Pump Station.

Orangetown DEME Director Joe Moran said the cost includes parts, labor and bypassing the pump during the work. He added that the department is looking into the warranty to see if the town would be due money back because of the defective part.

According to the resolution, the station has four pumps and one other one is already out for repairs. For safe operation, the station is supposed to have at least two working pumps and one backup.
