Nyack Trustees to Vote on Playground Plans, Municipal Lot Parking

The Nyack Village Trustees saw a presentation of plans for the new playground in Memorial Park during their last workshop meeting.

They are expected to vote on a resolution accepting funds from the Nyack Park Conservancy to pay for the playground as part of the meting beginning 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Nyack Village Hall.

"They did a great presentation," Nyack Mayor Jen Laird-White said. "It's a lovely plan. As soon as we do this step tomorrow night, they can start doing the nuts and bolts of it."

The vote Thursday is part of moving forward with the new playground, which the playground committee hopes will be ready by the spring.

The full agenda for the meeting is available on the village website here

There will also be a public hearing at 8 p.m. regarding a proposed amendment to Chapter 330 of the Code of the Village of Nyack which would put new limits on the use of municipal parking lots. This was spurred by concerns regarding people parking campers and recreational vehicles overnight.

The primary issue is the lot on Speer Street, some of which never move from the spots. There have been legal and safety issues related to those keeping their vehicles there. The amendment would make muncipal lots in the village unavailable to RVs and campers during late-night hours.
