Nyack Seeks Bidders for Annual Summer Camp

Per advice in a state audit, the village will reach out to multiple parties

Nyack's subsidized summer camp is generally held at and administrated by , though that tradition will not be set in stone this year.

In an audit released earlier this month, the Office of the New York State Comptroller noted village lawmakers to host the annual camp and other professional services. Though the village is not required to do so by law, the state said it could save taxpayers money.

In the past, not having different organizations bid "may have resulted in the village incurring higher costs than necessary for the goods and services purchased," the audit reads.

Now, Nyack lawmakers are gearing up to see if there are any other entities that may be interested. Still, running the camp—which often takes in low-income children over the six-week period—is a top priority.

"We need to move quickly on this," said trustee Louise Parker. "There's no way we cannot have the camp."

The program costs the village about $163,000 annually.
