Nyack Neighborhood Watch in the Works; Cemetery Lawsuit Solved

Here's a look at the smaller proceedings and discussions:

  • The Orangetown Police Department is in the process of organizing a neighborhood watch program on Franklin Street and around Nyack Plaza. "[The police] will teach residents how to report crime and how to best be heard," said Nyack trustee Jen Laird-White.
  • The between Oak Hill Cemetery and the adjacent Village Gate Condominiums has been settled; Village Gate has been granted a spatial easement for 20 years, and a fence will be constructed at the border. The cemetery must also replant the trees it cut down.
  • The planning board is still reviewing Nyack Hospital's back to "hospital."
  • The village approved payment of a $19,197.28 tax certiorari settlement to the Clermont Condominiums.
  • Individuals and groups who utilize Memorial Park for large events must now pay a $25 electricity fee.
  • There will be an antique and muscle car show on June 9, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., in the Riverspace parking lot. The show will be hosted by Black Bear Saloon, open to the public and feature about 20 unique automobiles. It will follow on the heels on the .
  • A firefighters parade will be held in downtown Nyack on the morning of June 12.
