Nyack Hospital Submits App for Zoning Change; Budget Workshops on Horizon

A look at smaller government happenings

At last Thursday's village board meeting in Nyack, trustees noted the John Green House—Nyack's oldest home—. Here's a look at the smaller proceedings and discussions from the meeting:

  • The village will enter discussions between Nyack merchants and Orangetown Police about policing at street fairs. Nyack merchants say the police presence are too pricey. "It's a work in progress," said Jack Dunnigan, head of ACADA and owner of Pickwick Books.
  • Nyack Hosptial has submitted an application for a zoning change; the village board, planning board and other organizations will weigh in on the proposal. Read more about the story .
  • Meters will be installed in the Nyack Library lot over the next couple days. The village will manage the spots, which are open to the public. Read more about the story .
  • The village's budget workshops will be held at 7 p.m. at village hall on March 23 and 31 and April 7. The public hearing is slated for April 14.
  • The American Legion will hold the annual Memorial Day parade on Monday, May 30. "I look forward to this all year," said Mayor Kavesh.
