Nyack: Free Lot Parking Sat. Through Tues.

Residents, shoppers can park free of charge during village events.

Nyackers and village visitors will be able to park in municipal lots for free part of this week and next, said mayor Jen Laird-White.

Daytime parking downtown will be gratis from Saturday to Tuesday. The free hours run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and apply to the Riverspace and Artopee lots.

"Nyack is going to support its local merchants," Laird-White said, noting the upcoming several days will be tough on merchants. Saturday marks the annual Fire Department Parade, Sunday will house a streetfair and Main Street will be closed Monday and Tuesday for Streetscape paving.

"We don’t want to make it more difficult for merchants," Laird-White added.

I guess better late than never. LaCorte is serving his 4th year as Mayor and was Trustee for I thinkRead More 4 years before that. This year is the only time he has brought the idea to the village about participating in this program. He is motivated by the opportunity of getting positive press for his County Executive campaign. The village should have been involved in this program ( as well as the Americorps program) long before this. On a positive note, hopefully the Village will continue this worthwhile partnership for many years to come.
