Other facts

Nita Lowey is a leading national proponent for strengthening our economy, balancing the federal budget, improving math and science education for children, providing quality, affordable health care, promoting biomedical research, safeguarding a women's right to choose, achieving independence from foreign oil, and protecting the environment. As the Ranking Member and former Chair of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Foreign Operations, Lowey plays a vital leadership role in strengthening America's alliances around the world and ensuring that the United States meets the challenge of global leadership. In the aftermath of September 11th, Lowey was chosen to be a Member of the Select Committee on Homeland Security. She has fought successfully to provide First Responders with resources to confront emergencies, to obtain a fair share of federal homeland security funding for New York State, and to bolster security at critical facilities, including our airports, nuclear plants, and ports. Lowey has been called "courageous" by the New York Times and recognized by the New York Daily News as one of "New York's key Members of Congress." Newsday called her "terrific" and said "she delivers for New York." And Congressional Quarterly cited her as one of the 50 most effective Members of Congress.

What has she specifically done for Harrison all these years?
Gomer Pile July 29, 2012 at 01:16 PM
Time to go... Has done nothing for Harrison, except for the rich folks.
Gomer Pile July 29, 2012 at 01:17 PM
also, the picture she uses for her campain is like twenty years old...

Lowey, has she no sense of where she is? If there was any doubt, Ms. Lowey's "blogging"/ self promotion has ensured she will NOT be getting my vote. It's one thing to be blogging about pressing issues while working to make real change, instead Ms. Lowey is a trove of empty gestures, appearances, and efforts to change SUNSCREEN LABELS??? Is she kidding, or just on a political suicide mission? Goodnight, you're dismissed.

All she has done is tax and spend-maybe she can afford it but we cant

whats with all the tea partiers bashing Congresswoman Lowey? Are we in Oklahoma on New York?

Nita has brought in millions of dollars to her district for flood control projects (just recently $4.5 MILLION FOR BRONXVILLE HIGH SCHOOL FLOODS!!!!!!), nature restoration projects, Bronx River protection and refurbishment, financial assistance to the County, financial assistance to municipalities (White Plains) with hiring police and fire personnel, she has seniority as Ranking Minority member on the House Appropriations Committee - fingers on the purse strings!!!, she has voted to hold $$$ going to the Muslim Brotherhood and the Abbas P.A., she has voted positively on social issues, she holds fast to the right of women to choose abortion or not, as a medical procedure, entitled to Constitutional protection, she cares greatly about her constituents and GIVES BACK!!!, she has a good heart and will help you if and when she can - we may disagree with her on some things, like all family members, but she serves well and is a True Patriot. Nita gets my vote anytime, although I would like her to sign on to HR668- the Shield Act and please do not let it die in committee - again..... VOTE NITA!!! THE DECISION IS CLEAR - LOWEY FOR CONGRESS!!!!!!
Bob Zahm October 20, 2012 at 06:43 PM
Lowey's gotta go. She's another tax and spender. Her "bringing millions of dollars to her district" is just her piece of the tax pie that she supported taking away from the district first.

I began my political life as a Democrat. Now I don't even recognize them - nor would JFK who would be more conservative than a lot of today's Republicans. "Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country" has become exactly the opposite. Broken borders, suicidal borrowing, intentionally spoiling spending (why is Obama meeting Mexican gov 30 times to get food stamps to Mexicans), weird marriage, strangled energy production, aid for enemies and betrayals for allies - nothing to like and lots to regret on Dem side.
JM October 20, 2012 at 07:58 PM
She is 75, I am 48 and an ultra conservative Republican... yet it makes no difference in my book which party one belongs too, but those who are about 55 and older have had their chance - and done enough damage to this country. Let us have a chance now. First thing we (and those under 40 would agree with) would be to make layoff just to please shareholders illegal in this country. IBM would be shaking in its boots. You see, at least in my view, GenX and younger care about the "whole'' and qualify of life for all, we don't just protect our own.
JM October 20, 2012 at 08:01 PM
P.S. Nita and every other citizen of her generation, actually I'll say anyone 55 on up, could give a rats behind about me and anyone younger no matter what value we bring to the office, govt. or community. This is why I no longer vote for anyone older than I am.
Issy October 20, 2012 at 08:45 PM
Firstly Kennedy exposed liberal values that put people ahead of corporations and secondly today's republicans have gone so far to the right that the only thing more conservative than them is fascism. Reagan would have been drummed out a long time ago.
joshua tanner October 21, 2012 at 12:11 AM
JFK didn't hate corporations. He wasn't brainwashed by socialists. He cut taxes and believed in strong national defense, Republicans are pussycats. Today's liberals are so far from center the think anyone who doesn't approve of sodomy between men is a radical. Obama supported babies injured in botched abortion attempt to be left to die. The modern Dem party is very wicked. Right now they are helping Muslim Brotherhood and Al Qaeda in Mid East. Only 10 years since 9-11 and they are collaborating with the perps while harming allies. Obama and Dems set the ME on fire. Brace yourself because its gonna blow and you'll feel it here.

This woman should have been shown the door years and years ago.

The article above states, "Nita Lowey is a leading national proponent for strengthening our economy, balancing the federal budget". If this is "true", why is our economy in the shape it is in and the deficit sky rocketing??? Kind of makes you wonder, what was she doing in her prior term in office? Just another liberal wanting to get reelected and willing to say anything to promote her cause.
Dan Seidel October 28, 2012 at 03:07 PM
Nita is the Ranking Minority Leader on House Appropriations - when the Dems controlled Congress, NITA WAS HEAD OF APPROPRIATIONS!! you people vote for her clown opponent, WE lose!!! KEEP NITA IN CONGRESS!!!!
Dan Seidel October 28, 2012 at 03:15 PM
So, run for office!! put some skin in the game!!! I am an ultra conservative Democrat - I speak up. You? I'm over 55, yet seeing how GenX is SO TERRIBLY IGNORANT of issues and law, I do not trust that "generation" AT ALL - FOR ANYTHING!!!! Show me you learned SOMETHING and can peel the onion, MAYBE guys like me will back off critique of the ignorant "yutes". Until then, we "greysters" will run things. Your statement about "layoffs" (and I hope you are joking) tells me I cannot let my guard down. I'd like to, but will not. VOTE ROMNEY!!!!! VOTE NITA!!!!!! parties do not matter - you are correct - it's the person now. Nita, even though she has 28 years in Congress, HAS MY VOTE - AGAIN! MObama? show that traitor the door, and hope it slams on his butt on his way out!
Dan Seidel October 28, 2012 at 03:17 PM
