Other facts

I have a long history of excellence and success in the endeavors I take on. As a 35 year law enforcement officer, I have had the opportunity to serve in a wide variety of communities and capacities. I started my career serving my country as an Army Military Police Officer, stationed in Alaska and at West Point. Growing up in Brooklyn, my dream was to be a NYC Police Officer. I worked for SUNY at Stony Brook and the Norwalk, CT Police until called for NYC in 1981. I was the valedictorian of my police academy class of 928 cadets, as well as being selected one of the first K9 officers for the NYPD. In 1987 I began serving this community as a Clarkstown Police Officer, where I continue to serve as a Lieutenant. I graduated from John Jay College summa cum laude in 1989, attending part time while working as a police officer. I then attended Pace University School of Law, again doing so while continuing to work and raise a family. I participated in many activities at Pace, serving as an editor on the Pace Environmental Law Review. I also had my casenote published by the Lw Review, entitled "Taking out the Trash: Where Will we Put All This Garbage?". This writing also won an award from the New York State Bar Association Environmental Law Section. I graduated cum laude with a certificate in Environmental Law in 1993. I am a member of the New York and Florida Bar. I was of counsel to the firm of Barr & Rosenbaum and its successor Barr & Haas. For almost 15 years I have taught police officers and supervisors various legal topics, both in Clarkstown and through the Rockland County Police Academy. I developed a legal training program in Clarkstown that is customized to the needs of the department and current legal trends. This program has worked to enhance the legal acumen of the police officers who serve our community. I have also taught as an adjunct professor at Rockland Community College. I have also dedicated a great deal of time giving back to the community in a wide variety of ways, too numerous to fully detail here. My two most current roles are as Vice Chair of the Rockland District of the Boy Scouts of America, and Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of Leadership Rockland. I invite readers to visit my website for further details of my civic involvement.
