Are You Afraid of the Tappan Zee Bridge?

The long skinny lanes without a shoulder, the short railings and span that seems to go on forever—the Tappan Zee Bridge was just too much for Renee Stala.

The Nanuet resident told The Poughkeepsie Journal that she went through several years of therapy before overcoming her fear of driving over the bridge. 

The new Tappan Zee Bridge will be the widest bridge in the world. However, some mental health professionals say it could make some drivers even more anxious, while others say the fear doesn’t stem from the bridge’s specific features.
