Valley Cottage Man Charged with Drug Possession in Nyack
Police: Bag with marijuana found in car stopped for traffic violation.
A Valley Cottage man was charged with illegal drug posession Thursday morning after he was stopped for a traffic violation in Nyack, according to Orangetown Police.
Kelvin L. Edmonds, 50, of 58-D Lake Road, Valley Cottage, was stopped by police at about 9:45 a.m. at Route 9W and Sickles Avenue in a 2002 Chevrolet for going through a red light. Police said that as a town officer questioned Edmonds he noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from the car.
Police said that when Edmonds was asked if he had marijuana in the car he reached into the center console and handed a town officer a white plastic bag containing 156.4 grams of marijuana.

Edmonds was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor, and he was later released on $100 bail pending a hearing on Tuesday in Nyack Village Court.
