Valley Cottage Man, 21, Dies of Possible Overdose

Clarkstown police said the death was most likely accidental

A 21-year-old Valley Cottage resident has died after possibly overdosing Friday night, confirmed Clarkstown police.

The man was home from college and visiting with three or four friends at another Valley Cottage home when the incident occurred. He was placed on life support and was "precarious overnight," said Sgt. Alan Armstrong. The death occurred sometime during the night.

No further information is being released until the family is notified.

It was an accident. It was an overdose. Sometimes with street drugs, you don't know the actual amounts of drug(s) therein. Also one only needs 2000 mg of acetaminophen to start shutting down the liver. Accidents are easy to come by- can't tell you how many i've read about- how bout you?

Regardless of your judgemental opinions, a beautiful life was lost. Rather than discussing this tragedy, which I GUARANTEE none of you know ANYTHING about...try showing a bit more compassion for our family and for all of our loved ones who were left behind, deeply saddened. As if we aren't having a hard enough time, to hear these irrational comments really does not make the "hour by hour" that we are just trying to get through, any easier! I personally would appreciate it..!!!

Tom, Thank you for being the voice of reason, compassion and not judgement. We have lost another human being..period, and that deserves prayer for him, his family and all of us who could have experienced similar circumstances through our own foolishness. Its always self righteous when it happens to someone else...what kind of world is this that we can become so cynical in what is a tragedy regardless of the circumstances....this young man is dead...isn't that payment enough for his actions?

Heartbroken, I totally agree with you and find the remarks far more painful than it need be. Even jesus weeps when this happens to one of His children...I am so sorry for your loss and I pray that the days ahead are buffeted by those who love you unconditionally and compassionately.

Heartbroken, my son was a very good friend of this young man and his biggest fear is exactly what is happening and is being said by these arrogant people. The people who knew your family know the kind of kid he was, knew his personality and character and know better than to listen to or read this nonsense. The funny part is all reports state that the real cause of death is not even known yet so why don't you all just go back in your glass houses and replace it with brick because one day a stone is going to be thrown at you because of incorrect information and then you'll be crying foul. Do not judge people until you are in their shoes. May this beautiful child rest in peace and may his family find the strength to move forward and be tough enough to ignore fools like the ones that are posting here. God Bless you and your family Heartbroken.
