Upper Nyack Woman Arrested for Fight Over Cat

Woman charged with assault

Concern over a feline's well-being led to an Upper Nyack woman's arrest Wednesday.

Ashley Lewis, 21, of Upper Nyack and Julie Guglielmo, 20, of Point Pleasant, NJ were both charged with assault, police said. Authorities said the two women became engaged in a physical fight over the welfare of a cat at approximately 9 p.m. in Hackettstown, NJ, a town about one hour from Nyack.

Police reported that they heard screaming coming from the scene. Both women suffered only minor injuries and were not hospitalized; they were released and will appear in local justice court next month.
