Two Men Charged in Rash of Thefts from Cars

Police: Stolen credit/debit cards used to make more than $3,000 in purchases.

Two men have been charged in connection with a rash of thefts from cars and using stolen credit and debit cards to make more than $3,000 worth of illicit purchases, according to Stony Point Police.

The arrests followed an investigation of incidents that took place from Dec. 2 to Dec. 6, when items were stolen from cars in Stony Point.

John McLaughlin, 19, of 1 Bedford Lane, Thiells, and Joshua White, 21, of 4 Van Houten St., Haverstraw, are both charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, petty larceny and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

They were arraigned in Stony Point Town Court and ordered held in the Rockland County Correctional Facility in New City pending a hearing in Stony Point.
