Traffic Violation Leads to DWI Charge

Police: Orangeburg man stopped by police after going through stop sign.

An Orangeburg man was charged with drunken driving after he was stopped for a traffic violation, according to Orangetown Police.

Kevin Farrell, 54, of Edgewood Circle, Orangeburg, was stopped by town patrolman about 5:59 p.m. on Tuesday when he was seen going through a stop sign at Bataan Road in Orangeburg, police said.

Police said Farrell appeared intoxicated and failed field sobriety tests. He was taken to Orangetown Police Headquarters in Orangeburg, where police said he failed a chemical breath test for alcohol.

Farrell was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and was released pending a Dec. 19 hearing in Orangetown Town Court.
