Three Charged in 2 Underage Drinking Incidents

Police: Tomkins Cover party involved upwards of 50 underage drinkers.

Two people have been charged with unlawfully dealing with a minor and a third was charged with disorderly conduct in two separate incidents in which alcohol was served to minors, according to Stony Point Police.

In an incident on Saturday, police said about 50 youths were involved in a house party at 40 Ridgetop Drive in the Tomkins Cove section of Stony Point. Police said 19-year-old Kayhan Baratali hosted a party at the home while his parents were away.

Stony Point Police Lt. Keith Williams said a town officer investigating a complaint about a suspicious car came upon the party. Williams said police found a large number of youths under 21 were drinking at the party. Police from Haverstraw and the Rockland County Sheriff's Department were called in to assist in the investigation.

Williams said many youths were taken to Stony Point Police Headquarters, where they were picked up by their parents. Baratali was charged with unlawfully dealing with a minor and he was later released pending a May 7 hearing in Stony Point Town Court.

During the investigation, police said Dodge A. Woertendyke, 18, of 19 Grand Ave.,. Nyack, became disorderly at the Ridgetop Drive home and he was taken into custody. Woertendyke was charged with disorderly conduct and later released pending an April 18 hearing.

On Sunday, police received a complaint about a possible underage drinking party at 122 Route 210, Stony Point. Williams said town officers found that about a half dozen youths were served alcohol at the home.

Jeannine Rose, 45, was charged with unlawfully dealing with a minor, police said. She was released pending an May 2 hearing in Town Court.
