Drivers Advised to Avoid Unnecessary Travel

Police expect Friday's storm to cause sporadic closures on I-84, I-684 and the Taconic State Parkway.

State Police in Troop K, the headquarters responsible for patrolling this area, are advising motorists to refrain from all unnecessary travel Friday.

It is anticipated that travel conditions will deteriorate rapidly ,beginning in the late morning and continuing into the evening hours, and police expect sporadic road closures for interstates 84 and 684, along with the Taconic State Parkway. Motorists, especially those driving commercial vehicles, should stay away from these roads to avoid being stranded.

All vehicles abandoned on the roadway will be subject to immediate impoundment.

Has a state of emergency been declared yet? I have to go to work unless one is declared.

No, but Gov. Cuomo has activated the state emergency operations center and is monitoring the situation. Westchester County hasn't declared anything as of this morning.
