South Nyack Man Charged with DWI in Orangeburg

Police: He had more than 3 times the legal limit for alcohol in his system.

A South Nyack man who was so intoxicated that he could not stand up on his own was charged with drunken driving in Orangeburg on Tuesday, according to Orangetown police.

Gustavo A. Dash, 56, of 34 Smith Ave., was stopped for a driving a 2012 Nissan pick up truck erratically on Orangeburg Road at 2:41 p.m., police said. When he was questioned, police said, Dash was found to be intoxicated and could not stand up without help from a town officer.

Dash was taken to Orangetown police headquarters in Orangeburg, where police said he failed a chemical breath test for alcohol. Police said Dash had three times the legal limit for alcohol in his system.

Dash was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and was issued several traffic tickets. He was later released to a family member after posting $200 bail pending a hearing in Orangetown Town Court on Oct. 10.
