Scam Using Counterfeit $100 Bills Affected Lord & Taylor In West Nyack, Paramus

Police: NYC man trying to return coat bought with bogus bills arrested, found with more counterfeit cash.

A New York City man who tried to return a coat to the store in West Nyack after it was purchased with bogus $100 bills in the chain's Paramus, NJ, store was arrested on theft charges and found with counterfeit money, according .

The security staff at the Lord and Taylor store in West Nyack at Palisades Center mall was on alert Saturday that a $387 leather coat was purchased at the Paramus store on Friday using counterfiet $100 bills. Police said that at 7:30 p.m. Saturday store security reported that Andre Walton, 58, attempted to return the coat in West Nyack and tried to get a refund.

Walton was arrested at the store in connection with the theft of the leather coat. Police said that Walton was also found with two counterfiet $100 bills, a forged driver's license and a stolen credit card.

Walton was arraigned in Clarkstown Town Court in New City and ordered held in the Rockland County Correctional Facility in New City pending a hearing.

He is accused of:

- First- and second-degree possession of a forged instrument, felonies.

- Second-degree forgery, a felony.

- Fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony.

- First-degree falsifying business records, a felony.

- Fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a misdemeanor.
