Safely Get Rid of Old or Unwanted Prescription Drugs

Orangetown police take part in DEA's Drug Take Back Day.

The Orangetown Police Department is taking part in the DEA's 5th Prescription Drug Take Back Day today.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. you can bring unwanted or expired prescription medications to Orangetown police headquarters, where they are being collected for proper disposal.

The effort is designed to get unneeded prescription drugs out of homes so they won't end up in the hands of drug abusers. Police say that in many instances, unwanted medications get into the hands of family members who either abuse the drugs or sell them to others to be abused.
