Route 59 Open Again To Traffic In West Nyack

Closed since Saturday night, flood waters have moved off of state highway near Palisades Center mall.

After being closed since Saturday evening because of Hurricane Irene, Route 59 in West Nyack is open again this morning.

Clarkstown police said the state highway near the Palisades Center mall is open to traffic in both directions.

However, police warn that there are still roads throughout the area that remain closed because of downed trees and power lines, including a section of Strawtown Road at Germonds Road in West Nyack.
