Rockland Emergency Services: Winter Storm Watch Saturday

The Rockland County Office of Fire and Emergency Services has declared a Winter Storm Watch for Saturday and Saturday night.

They are warning of a mixture of snow that could accumulate from six to eight inches with sleet and freezing rain.

The National Weather Service has a Winter Storm Watch in effect for Rockland County and the surrounding area from 6 a.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday morning, calling for six to 10 inches of snow mixed with ice. The forecast calls for most of the snow to fall after 10 a.m. and end around 1 a.m. Sunday morning. The high temperature will only reach 23 degrees Saturday.

Orange & Rockland Utilities also declared a storm watch. Due to the forecast of snow and moderate wind, O&R schedule additional overhead electric crews and the company's emergency response group will be on standby if needed.
