Rockland Court Report: Armed Robbery Sentencing

The Rockland County District Attorney's Office announced that Tirrell Edmundson of Spring Valley was sentenced to 10 years in state prison after pleading guilty to Robbery in the First Degree.

According to Rockland Coutnty DA Thomas Zugibe, Edmundson posted ads for property on Craigslist and robbed the people who attempted to purchase the property on two separate occasions. He and an unidentified male robbed three people at gunpoint Sept. 5, 2012. They had responded to his ad selling a car. Edmundson then robbed one victim who had purchased a cell phone from him Sept. 11, 2012. 

In addition to the prison term, Edmundson's sentence includes five years of supervision after his release.

Other announcements from the District Attorney's office include:

  • Jeffrey Bruno, 27, of Harriman was sentenced to 10 months in Rockland County Jail. He plead guilty to Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the 1st Degree. According to Zugibe, though Bruno's driving privileges in New York had already been revoked, Bruno was caught driving under the influence of alcohol Feb. 18, 2013. 
  • Valerie Russell, 28, of Pomona was sentenced to one year in Rockland County Jail after pleading guilty to Burglary in the Third Degree. According to Zugibe, Russell took property with a value of over $1,000 that did not belong to her from a storage closet in Building 5 at Country Club Lane in Haverstraw. 
  • Enrique Angulo of Garnerville was indicted for Assault in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (two counts). Zugibe said that when Angulo was asked to leave the El Rancho Latino Bar, he struck a victim over the head with a beer bottle Dec. 8, 2013.
  • Gary Wheatley-Jackson, 42, of Brooklyn was indicted for Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, Criminal Possession of Stoeln Property in the Fourth Degree and Criminal Possession of an Anti-Security Item. Zugibe said put items from Dicks Sporting Goods in a booster bag and left the store without paying Dec. 15, 2013.
