Police: Woman Who Left 1-Year-Old Unattended In Running Car At Gas Station Charged With DWI

Chestnut Ridge woman was in bathroom with 4-year-old as infant was alone in car at West Nyack Exxon.

A Chestnut Ridge woman was charged with aggravated drunken driving, a felony, and endangering the welfare of a child Sunday after say they found a running car with the driver’s door open and a 1-year-old left unattended in the rear seat at a West Nyack gas station.

Noelle Marrone, 23, was located in the bathroom of the Exxon Station on Route 303 with her 4-year-old son and was intoxicated, according to Clarkstown police.

Police said they received a report of an intoxicated woman at about 5:15 p.m. and discovered a 2006 Saturn at the gas station, with the 1-year-old in the car. After the car’s driver, Marrone, was found, police said she failed a field sobriety test.

Marrone was taken to Clarkstown police headquarters in New City, where police said she failed a chemical breath test for alcohol — with results showing her blood alcohol content at .21 percent, which is more than twice the legal limit.

She was arraigned before  Clarkstown Town Judge Scott Ugell, who ordered Marrone held in the Rockland County Correctional Facility in New City on $50,000 bail pending a hearing in Town Court on Wendesday.

Marrone was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, a felony, driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

Police said the children were not injured at all, and that Marrone was in the area to drop someone off at Palisades Center mall, across Route 303 from the gas station.

I guess better late than never. LaCorte is serving his 4th year as Mayor and was Trustee for I thinkRead More 4 years before that. This year is the only time he has brought the idea to the village about participating in this program. He is motivated by the opportunity of getting positive press for his County Executive campaign. The village should have been involved in this program ( as well as the Americorps program) long before this. On a positive note, hopefully the Village will continue this worthwhile partnership for many years to come.
