Police: West Nyack Woman Impaired By Drugs While Driving On Route 303

Witness who followed car told police the driver nearly caused several accidents.

A West Nyack woman who was stopped on Route 303 after police received  reports of an erratic driver nearly causing several accidents was charged with driving while impaired by drugs, according to Orangetown police.

Kathleen Kerridge, 54, of 8 Louise Drive, was pulled over by police in Tappan about 10:30 a.m. Friday. As soon as she was stopped in her 2007 Ford Explorer at the Kings Highway intersection, police said they were approached by a witness who said he had been following the Explorer for several miles and saw the driver nearly cause accidents.

After being interviewed by a police officer and taking a field sobriety test, Kerridge was arrested on the charge of driving while ability by drugs.

Police said Kerridge was taken to police headquarters in Orangeburg, where they said they discovered Kerridge tried to hide several Xanax and Valium pills, prescribed to a different person, under the seat of the police car.

Kerridge refused to submit to a blood test, police said.

She was also charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor. Kerridge was later released to a friend around 2:30 p.m. and faces a hearing in Orangetown Town Court on April 10.
