Police: Taxi Passenger Found With Heroin

Police dog sniffed out drugs

A routine traffic stop of a taxi driving erratically on West Clarkstown Road led to the arrest of a passenger in the cab who had a bag with 1.36 kilos of heroin, according to Clarkstown police.

The cab was stopped 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 11 by a town police officer who is part of the police department's K-9 unit, using a dog that is trained in drug recognition. Police said that during the investigation of the taxi, passenger Roberto Bueno, 36, of Homer Lee Avenue in Spring Valley was nervous and uncooperative.

Next to Bueno, police said, was a shopping bag, which the town police dog indicated was positive for the odor of drugs. A search of the bag uncovered the drugs, police said.
