Police: Suspicious Man Approached 12-Year-Old in Tappan

Man allegedly pulled up in car, called out to boy

are investigating a suspicious incident that occurred Monday at about 4:30 p.m. in Tappan.

A 12-year-old boy was playing basketball in his driveway on Virginia Street when a man in a silver-colored car stopped in front of the house and called the child over, according to detective lieutenant James Brown. The child then ran inside to alert his parents.

"The subject is described as a white male, approximately 30-year-old, with shoulder-length black hair," Brown added.
