Police: Scammers Hit Piermont After Hurricane

Authorities advise residents to watch for uninsured, unlicensed contractors

"There are reports of contractors taking large deposits and not performing any work," said Michael O'Shea, Piermont's chief of police.

O'Shea noted that residents with questions about whether a contractor is licensed and insured can call the Piermont Building Inspector at (845) 359-1258 or Rockland's Office of Consumer Protection at (845) 708-7602.

Any suspicious activity should be reported to Piermont Police at (845) 359-0240, O'Shea added.
