Police: Man with Handgun Robs Woman in Nyack

Armed robbery occurred just after midnight on Tuesday

A man brandishing a handgun robbed a woman of $20 in downtown Nyack early Tuesday morning, said.

The man approached a woman sitting in her car in a parking lot off Main Street at about 12:06 a.m. and demanded money while holding the gun, authorities said.

"The suspect got $20 from the victim and fled towards Gedney Street," said Det. Lt. Jim Brown.

The suspect is described as a white male, or possible light-skinned Hispanic, standing about 5'8" and of medium build. He was dressed in a dark hooded sweatshirt and had a dark bandanna or cloth covering his face, Brown said.

Police canvassed the area with a K-9 unit from Bergen County Police following the incident, but could not locate the suspect.
