Police: Man Jumps on Nyack Parking Officer's Car, Causes Accident

Stony Point man accused of harassing worker after he issued a ticket to a car on Midland Avenue in Nyack.

A Nyack Parking Authority employee who had just issued a ticket was harassed by a Stony Point man who jumped onto the hood of the employee's vehicle and caused an accident Wednesday morning, according to Orangetown Police.

Steven Stoltze, 47, of Tomkins Cove, injured his left foot in the incident, which police said took place after the parking authority employee had issued a ticket to a car on Midland Avenue just south of Sixth Avenue. The car was not Stoltze's vehicle.

Police said the incident took place at about 8:28 a.m., when Stoltze approached the parking authority employee and started an argument over the ticket that had just been issued. The parking employee was attempting to leave the area, police said, when Stoltze jumped on the employee's vehicle.

The vehicle lurched forward and struck a parked car. Police said Stoltze's foot was apparently caught between the two vehicles and injured. The parking authority worker was not hurt.

As a result of this incident, Stoltze was charged with:

- Second-degree obstruction of governmental administration, a misdemeanor.

- Disorderly conduct, a violation.

- Harassment, a violation.

- Clinging to a vehicle, a state vehicle and traffic law violation.

Stoltze was released with tickets requiring him to appear at Nyack Village Court hearing. The incident is still under investigation and Orangetown Police ask that anyone who may have witnessed the incident call them at 845-359-2121.

I guess better late than never. LaCorte is serving his 4th year as Mayor and was Trustee for I thinkRead More 4 years before that. This year is the only time he has brought the idea to the village about participating in this program. He is motivated by the opportunity of getting positive press for his County Executive campaign. The village should have been involved in this program ( as well as the Americorps program) long before this. On a positive note, hopefully the Village will continue this worthwhile partnership for many years to come.
