Police: Erratic Driver on Palisades Parkway Charged with DWI

Motorists reported car swerving, speeding.

A 39-year-old Stony Point woman was charged with drunk driving after motorists on the Palisades Interstate Parkway reported an erratic driver who was swerving between lanes and speeding, according to Orangetown Police.

Town police officers spotted a 2006 Acura MDX driven by Inna Rosario of 215 Route 210, Stony Point, at about 2:07 p.m. Friday at a shopping center near the parkway in Orangeburg after State Police alerted them to be on the look out for the car. Police said motorists spotted the Acura speeding at up to 80 mph, and then repeatedly slowing to 40 mph and making erratic lane changes.

Orangetown police tried to pull the Acura over as it left the Orangeburg Shopping Center parking lot, but the car instead got back onto the parkway at the Exit 6 northbound ramp. Town officers were able to stop the car on the parkway.

Police said that when they questioned the driver, Rosario, she appeared intoxicated and failed field sobriety tests. She was taken to Orangetown Police Headquarters in Orangeburg, where police said Rosario refused to take a chemical breath test for alcohol.

She was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and cited for refusing to take the breath test. She was later released to a family member pending an April 16 hearing in Orangetown Town Court.
