Police: Drunk N.J. Man Found Sleeping Behind The Wheel Of Running Car On Main St. In Nyack

21-year-old charged with aggravated DWI.

A Montvale, NJ, man was charged with drunken driving this morning after he was found asleep behind the wheel of a car — with the engine running — at a busy Nyack intersection, according to .

Edgar Shanoyan, 21, of 50 Rutherford Place, was found at the intersection of Main Street and Midland Avenue in a 2009 Nissan Maxima at 3 a.m. Shanoyan was awakened by police and he then failed several field sobriety tests, according to police.

Shanoyan was taken to Orangetown police headquarters in Orangeburg, where police said he failed a chemical breath test for alcohol, which showed his blood alcohol content to be .18 percent — more than double the legal limit. Shanoyan was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and he was later released to a family member pending a Jan. 24 hearing in Nyack Village Court.

I guess better late than never. LaCorte is serving his 4th year as Mayor and was Trustee for I thinkRead More 4 years before that. This year is the only time he has brought the idea to the village about participating in this program. He is motivated by the opportunity of getting positive press for his County Executive campaign. The village should have been involved in this program ( as well as the Americorps program) long before this. On a positive note, hopefully the Village will continue this worthwhile partnership for many years to come.
