Police: Bronx Man Assaulted Officer at Palisades Center

Clarkstown Police arrested Rashaun Steward, 27, of Bronx, NY after he attempted to push an officer investigating a fight between Steward and another party at Palisades Center Mall Monday.  

According to police, a uniformed officer responded to a report of an altercation on the fourth floor at approximately 3:40 p.m. and attempted to speak with one of the people involved when Steward tried to push the officer. The report goes on to say that Steward struggled when being arrested and punched the officer in the face, causing an injury. 

Steward is being charged with 2nd degree assault, a felony,  the misdemeanor offenses of obstructing governmental administration in the 2nd and resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, a violation. The second person involved in the fight was identified, but released without charges. 

The police officer was treated at Nyack Hospital and released.
