Police: 2 Drivers Hit With Alcohol-Related Charges

Clarkstown police stop cars seen moving erratically in Valley Cottage, Nanuet.

A Haverstraw man and a Pearl River man were arrested on alcohol-related charges in separate incidents on the road early Sunday, according to Clarkstown police.

Police said Rosemon Pierre-Louis, 45, of Haverstraw was stopped on Route 303 in Valley Cottage at 1:15 a.m. when a town officer saw him driving erratically. Pierre-Louis failed a field sobriety test and was taken to Clarkstown police headquarters in New City, where he then refused to take a chemical breath test for alcohol, police said.

Pierre-Louis was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and was arraigned in Clarkstown Town Court in New City. He was ordered held in the Rockland County Correctional Facility in New City on $500 bail and was scheduled to appear in Town Court today.

At 2:25 a.m. Sunday, police said town officers stopped a car driven by Edward Divone, 27, of Pearl River on South Middletown Road in Nanuet for driving erratically. Police said Divone was charged with driving while impaired by alcohol, unlawful possession of marijuana and traffic violations.

Divone was released pending an Aug. 8 Town Court hearing.
