Piermont Pier Boat Facility Nears Completion

Trustees: project will be completed either this week or next

The boat storage facility on the Piermont Pier will be finished either this week or possibly next, according to Piermont trustee Mark Blomquist.

Blomquist made the announcement at Tuesday’s board of trustees meeting, adding there are only two things left to do before it’s completed.

“O&R has to hook up the electrical panel, and they need to spray the foam insulation,” he said.

Additionally, the facility has received a free antenna bracket worth about $2,000 courtesy of the Orangetown Sewer District. The village helped them fix a loose valve in a tank by combining it with a scheduled practice dive, saving the sewer district thousands of dollars, Blomquist said.

“We’re trying to keep the cost down where ever we can, so that was a nice help,” he added.

Blomquist said the storage facility can be used as soon as this weekend if the project is completed, or next weekend if it’s not finished in time for this weekend.

On May 19, the facility will be dedicated to Thomas “Bud” Sedlack, a lifelong Piermont resident who died in November of last year. Sedlack was the Chief of the Piermont Fire Department from 1956-1958, during which he included the department’s responsibilities to include underwater rescues.
