Pearl River Woman Accused Of DWI On Route 59

Police: Driver taken to hospital for evaluation after making statements indicating she might harm herself.

A Pearl River woman was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern for evaluation after she was charged with drunken driving on Route 59 in West Nyack and later made statements indicating she might harm herself, acccording to Clarkstown police.

Kimberly Ward, 39, was stopped on westbound Route 59 at about 6:40 p.m. Thursday for speeding, police said. Ward appeared to be intoxicated and failed a field sobriety test, according to police.

Ward was taken to Clarkstown police headquarters in New City and held pending arraignment in Clarkstown Town Court. Police said that while in a holding cell Ward made several statements indicating she might harm herself.

Ward was taken by New City Volunteer Ambulance and Rescue Corps to Good Samaritan Hospital. Ward was released by police pending a hearing Wednesday in Town Court.

A computer check of her driver’s license and vehicle registration revealed they had both been suspended by the Department of Motor Vehicles. Police said Ward was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle with it’s registration suspended, both misdemeanors, and traffic violations.
