The Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Department today plans to honor police officers and a civilian for lifesaving actions on the New Jersey section of the parkway.
The 5:30 p.m. awards ceremony is set for the Historic Park located on Hudson Terrace in Fort Lee, NJ.
One officer and a civilian are to be honored for their lifesaving actions during a sexual assault and fatal accident on July 2. A cab driver was credited for stopping a sex attack in Fort Lee, NJ, in an incident in which the suspected attacker was then killed in a fiery crash on the parkway.
Additionally, a lieutenant, an officer, a Sheriff’s officer and a K-9 will be cited for their actions in stopping a jumper from leaping off a cliff along the Palisades in New Jersey.
The PIP police are also honoring two sergeants for their work achievements, and seven police officers will be sworn in. A new lieutenant and two new sergeants will also be sworn in to their posts.
