Nyack Woman Indicted on Food Stamp Fraud Charge

Shameta Williams, 37, of  36 S. Broadway, Nyack, faces charges of third degree grand larceny and misuse of food stamps, food stamp program coupons and electronic access devices, according to the Rockland County District Attorney's office.

Williams was indicted Feb. 26 by a Rockland County Grand Jury.

District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe said that between Jan. 7, 2011 and Jan. 8, 2013 Williams used her SNAP Benefit Card to purchase prohibited items and exchanged her benefits for cash at the Nyack Food Mart.

The total amount exceeded $3,000.
