Nyack Man WIth Revoked Driver's License Charged With DWI On Route 59

A Nyack man whose driver's license had been revoked for driving with his abilities impaired was charged with drunk driving on Sunday morning after he was seen driving erratically on Route 59, according to .

Laquan Simpson, 21, of Nyack was stopped by a town officer on patrol in Central Nyack at 4:50 a.m. Simpson, police said, failed a field sobriety test and a check of his license showed it had been revoked because of a June 2011 conviction for driving with his abilities impaired.

Simpson was taken to Clarkstown police headquarters in New City and arraigned in Town Court in New City, where Town Judge Howard Gerber ordered Simpson held in the Rockland County Correctional Facility in New City on $1,000 bail pending a hearing on Wednesday on charges of driving while intoxicated, a misdemeeanor, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a felony, and traffic violations.
