N.J. Woman Stopped For Speeding Charged With DWI In Tappan

A New Jersey woman stopped for speeding on Washington Street in Tappan Tuesday night was charged with drunken driving, according to .
Christina M. Williams, 43, of 439 Tappan Road, Nrothvale, NJ, was stopped for speeding in a 2008 Volkswagen Beetle at about 9 p.m. Police said that when a town officer questioned her, Williams appeared intoxicated and she then failed a field test.
Williams was taken to police headquarters in Orangeburg, where police said she refused to answer questions and refused to take a chemical breath test for alcohol. Police said Williams was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, speeding, and refusing the breath test, a violation. Williams was later released to a friend pending a March 14 hearing in Orangetown Town Court in Orangeburg.
