Multi-Car Accident Closes Section of Route 9W in Nyack for an Hour

Passenger vehicle ends up on its side on snowbank in front of Provident Bank branch

A mulitple-car accident on Route 9W closed a section of the road from Main Street to High Avenue in Nyack for about an hour this morning.

At least three cars were involved in an accident at the intersection of Route 9W and High Avenue shortly after 7 a.m. One of the passenger vehicles end up on its side as it slammed into a snow bank in front of the Provident Bank branch at the corner.

Orangetown Police diverted traffic away from the two-block stretch of Route 9W as volunteers from the Nyack Fire Department worked to remove passengers from the overturned car.

Route 9W was re-opened to traffic in the area about about 8:25 a.m.
