Yonkers Man Charged with DWI in Head-On Crash in South Nyack
One person taken to hospital; arrested man later complains of chest pain and also goes to hospital.
A Yonkers man was charged with driving while intoxicated after entering a New York State Thruway service road going the wrong way in South Nyack Friday night and colliding head-on with another car, according to police.
David Lefkon, 38, of Yonkers, took the wrong turn onto the northbound Exit 10 entrace ramp area just off Franklin Street in South Nyack, said police. Lefkon was arrested at around 8:30 p.m. and had a blood-alcohol level of 1.5, nearly twice the legal limit, said police.
"He had come across the Tappan Zee Bridge and somehow got turned around," said Nyack Police Sgt. B.J. Lynch. "He was in no shape to talk last night."

A 50-year-old man from Sleepy Hollow, the only passenger in the vehicle that was hit, was taken Nyack Hospital for treatment. Lynch said the man suffered a broken foot.
Lefkon complained of chest pain and was also taken to Nyack Hospital for treatment.

Volunteers of the Nyack Fire Department were called to the 8:30 p.m. accident to help clear a fuel spill from the wreck.
