Fla. Man Accused Of Using Fake $100 Bills At Palisades Center Mall

Police: 9 phony bills discovered.

A Florida man is accused of buying items at a Palisades Center mall store in West Nyack with $700 in fake $100 bills, according to Clarkstown police.

Anthony Tapai, 26, of Orlando, FL, was also found to have two more fake $100 bills when he was arrested, police said. Tapai was arrested after security staff at Macy's complained Tapai apparently used fake bills to pay for numerous items at 4:55 p.m. on Monday.

Tapai was taken to Clarkstown police headquarters in New City and was arraigned in Town Court, where he was ordered held in the Rockland County Correctional Facility in New City on $15,000 bail pending a Friday hearing on charges of first-degree possession of a forged instrument and criminal possession of stolen property.
