A roof fire at the Orangeburg Holiday Inn—329 Rt. 303—at around noon today filled several rooms and a hallway with smoke.
The small blaze began when a propane torch being used for construction on the building's roof lit up several two-by-fours, authorities said. The flames were limited to a small area.
Orangeburg and Sparkill fire departments—along with EMT units—responded to the blaze, using a ladder truck to reach the roof and extiguish it quickly. No one was injured, authorities said.
