UDATE: Fire At Hudson Valley SPCA Kills Two Dogs

12:30PM: Staff and volunteers at the Hudson Valley SPCA shared their sorrow at this morning's fire, which destroyed a 35-cage kennel and killed two dogs.

"We lost Harley and Johnny in today's fire. They were long-time residents here at the HVSPCA, and it is heartbreaking to know that their forever homes didn't come in time. Five more dogs are at Flannery's with smoke inhalation and burns. But they will be OK! We lost our back kennel - housing for 35 dogs - but we will rebuild. We pray for those souls who were lost and have to be grateful that the losses weren't larger than this," the SPCA said on Facebook.

They also shared their gratitude at the immediate outpouring of help.

"We are overwhelmed by the willingness of the community to offer foster homes. At this time, we need to place only a few more in order to get down to a number that we can shelter tonight. They are all LARGE dogs. Thank you to everyone!!!"
