Early-Morning Fight at Shopping Center Leads to Arrest

Clarkstown Police: Spring Valley man found with brass knuckles.

A Spring Valley man is charged with assault and weapon possession after an early-morning incident today at a Central Nyack shopping center, according to Clarkstown Police.

Police said Ricardo Monestime, 26, is accused of punching a 31-year-old man in the face and causing a cut above his nose in a 4:15 a.m. fight in the parking lot of the Hub Shopping Center on Route 59. 

During the investigation, police said, Monestime was found with a set of brass knuckles. Information on the reason for the fight was not available.

Monestime was charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony. He was being held at Clarkstown Police Headquarters in New City today pending arraignment in Clarkstown Town Court in New City.
